New Crossing, New Map Tiles

Written 11/09/17

The opening of the new Queensferry Crossing over the Firth of Forth at Edinburgh has left everyone who has online mapping keen to get their map tiles updated.

As you'll know if you've read our blog before we regularly update our WayMaps mapping tiles and we've just released a new set of tiles and here's the crossing at zoom 7.

We're pleased to have got this online, especially as the Ordnance Survey's OpenSpace tile server still has it waiting to be open.

However our tiles are primarily aimed at walkers and other leisure users and as you know we update these tiles regularly to pick up all the changes in the sources we use, especially OpenStreetMap from whom we source all our paths, and this release now includes for the first time the new Ullswater Way, a long distance path around Ullswater.

These tiles are live now on all our mapping sites including maps.the-hug.net, openmaps.the-hug.net, and the WalkLakes GPX mapping application.

They are also available to customers of our tile server. You will find details of how to use them documented here.
